The Bridal Shop Just Closed. How to Rescue the Day!

What do you do if your bridal store or the designer of your gown goes out of business before the dress is delivered?

In July there was noise around the world when Alfred Angelo, the designer of wedding dresses with 60 namesake stores around the country, (and who sold wholesale to more than 1,400 other shops) declared bankruptcy and shut its doors. The bankruptcy left hundreds of brides frantic because their wedding dresses, as well as the dresses of the bridal party, were either locked inside a now-closed store, or not yet even made, and never would be.

Even though the Angelo closure affected so many, it isn’t uncommon for smaller local shops to close, too, leaving brides feeling stranded, said Madeline Gardner, the designer for Morilee. But, she said, there is hope because there are many stores that sell the same or similar dresses and finding a new one is not that difficult.
